Use Canva on Moodle
With your school’s Canva Education account, seamlessly create and share designs, and set up assignments for your class in Moodle.
Add Canva content in Moodle
- Log in to your Moodle account and select your course.
- From the top-right corner, click Turn editing on.
- Select Add activity or resource. A prompt will appear.
- Select Canva Education and then select Select content. This will open Canva.
- Select the design you’ve already created or create a new one.
- Select Link Text and then select either View design only or New design for each student. Select New design for each student if you want to assign a copy of the design to each student.
- Select Save. All students within the course can now either view the design or create a copy of it by selecting the design activity.
Embed Canva designs in Moodle assignments
Let students create and design their assignments using Canva.
- Log in to your Moodle account and select your course.
- From the top-right corner, click Turn editing on.
- Select Add activity or resource and select Assignment.
- Name your Moodle assignment.
- Open the Canva design you want to add and click Share from the editor menu bar.
- Select More.
- Search for “embed” and select Embed.
- Select Embed and then Copy under HTML embed code.
- Back in Moodle, choose HTML from the rich text editor toolbar and paste the embed code on Canva.
- In the Submission type, select Online text.
- Select Save Assignment to finish.

Review student assignments in Moodle
After students submit their assignments, you can review and mark them on Moodle.
- From your Moodle account, go to Assignments.
- Open Student submissions.
- Select an assignment to open the Canva design.
- Grade and add comments on student assignments.
- Save your changes to finish.
Add a Moodle course header in Canva
Just for fun, you can create a Moodle course header in Canva.
- On Canva, search “Moodle” and select the header you like.
- Optional: Edit the header to customise it.
- Download the header.
- In Moodle, click on a course.
- Select the gear icon.
- Select Edit Settings.
- Upload your course header in the Course image section.
